Radiology: Are you a medical student interested in diagnostic or interventional radiology? The Radiology Group exists to increase knowledge and awareness of Radiology as a medical specialty. Our goal is to help support medical students as they make decisions about different areas the career has to offer.

Ophthalmology: Ophthalmology offers a broad practice, which includes medicine and surgery, treatment of pediatric and adult patients and provision of primary care as well as highly specialized treatment. Also, because of the nature and wide prevalence of eye problems, the patient's relationship with an ophthalmologist continues over many years, often throughout the patient's life.

Anesthesiology: Our goal is to provide resources and programming for students interested in anesthesia. Speaker events and skills labs are organized to better prepare students as they pursue careers in the field of anesthesiology.

Dermatology: The Dermatology Interest Group's purpose is to increase awareness of dermatology and dermatological issues within the medical student body and the community at large. We foster relationships between faculty mentors, residents, and medical students to increase exposure to and involvement in the rewarding field of dermatology.

ROAD Club Leadership

President:
Mckay Berges - Mckay.Berges@ut.rvu.edu

Hi my name is Mckay Berges and I'm from Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona. I love to be active which includes all sports, lifting weights, doing Ironman triathlons, and anything else involving moving my body. I have a wife, two little girls, and a mini golden-doodle.
I have worked with each of the ROAD specialties but have taken a special interest in Radiology and Ophthalmology. As President of the ROAD club I am excited to be a part helping students as they learn and pursue each ROAD specialty. I'm happy to help with anything ROAD or medical school so feel free to reach out!

VP of Radiology:
Kai Nethercott - Kai.Nethercott@rvu.edu
Hi my name is Kai Nethercott and I am from Mendon, Utah. Some fun facts about myself are that I play basketball, the piano, and speak Mandarin Chinese. Radiology is super interesting to me because I am a very visual person and there are so many things you can do in this specialty. Most people see Radiology as just reading images but you can also do hands on procedures which is very appealing to me. If you are interested in learning more about Radiology feel free to message me on teams.

VP of Ophthalmology:
Jacob Wagner - Jacob.Wagner@ut.rvu.edu
I grew up near Seattle enjoying all things outdoors. I graduated from BYU, majoring in Exercise Science. I’ve had my sights on medical school for quite a while, and RVU was my top pick. I love the desert/sun, and my wife has family down here, so it’s a win-win! My favorite activities include rock climbing, biking, and gaming.

VP of Anesthesiology:
Andrew Blotter - Andrew.Blotter@ut.rvu.edu
I graduated from Utah State University in 2023 and am originally from Farmington, Utah. My interest in anesthesia began during my time as a Boy Scout. I enjoy the idea of experiencing a variety of different scenarios and having the autonomy to be my own boss. If you have any questions about anesthesia, feel free to reach out to me!

VP of Dermatology:
Nicole Skalka - Nicole.Skalka@ut.rvu.edu
Greetings! I’m a Utah native and proud parent to a one-year-old daughter. My background in competitive dance and college cheerleading helped me develop a strong appreciation for teamwork and dedication. I earned my degree in microbiology from Weber State University while working in a dermatology clinic, which further reaffirmed my passion for the field by firsthand insight into its diagnostic challenges. Dermatology captivates me due to its integration of medical science and patient care. The way internal issues can manifest on the skin makes dermatology crucial for diagnosing underlying health conditions along with cosmetic concerns. I’m excited by the opportunity to build meaningful patient relationships and continue solving complex problems.

Treasurer:
Claudia Nguyen - Claudia.Nguyen@ut.rvu.edu
Although born and raised in Southern California, I now proudly call RVUCOM my new home away from home. My specialty of interest is dermatology because I love being able to make connections with patients through hands-on procedures. I am drawn to the variety and excitement that comes with the field, from treating acne and managing chronic skin conditions to detecting skin cancer. As your treasurer, I am thrilled to be part of the many exciting opportunities that the ROAD Club has planned this year!
